COMPOST BIN PILOT LAUNCH 

During the first week of our campus-wide compost initiative, GK recruited volunteers to help students sort our their waste during lunch. Pickers and aprons were provided by the end of the week and we noticed the vast lack of awareness towards compost practices. Flyers and awareness campaigns will be needed in the future!

Compost bin pAINTINGS!

With the generous paint from the Leadership 2 team, students of GK and Green club painted 5 bins with awareness quotes and composting guides. 

1/29/2020

MISSION SAN JOSE FOOD WASTE AUDIT

StopWaste, who along with Greenkeepers and students from MSJ Green Club, held a waste audit on 1/29/19. After sorting through a 40 lb sample of trash, we found that over 80% of our waste can be diverted! 70% of our waste stream can be composted and 10% recycled.
We will use these findings to implement an effective composting system at MSJHS.
